FAQ

Does this XML formatter upload my data?

No. Formatting and validation run in your browser; the tool does not send network requests.

What’s the difference between Format and Minify?

Format adds indentation and line breaks for readability. Minify removes whitespace between tags to make the XML compact.

Can it validate XML against an XSD schema?

No. It checks well‑formed XML (parsing) only; it does not validate against XSD/DTD schemas.

Will formatting change my XML content?

It removes whitespace-only text nodes between elements to create clean indentation, which can affect documents where that whitespace is significant.

Can I keep the XML declaration (<?xml ...?>)?

Yes. Enable Keep XML declaration to preserve it when your input includes one.

Can it remove XML comments?

Yes. Turn on Remove comments before formatting or minifying.

Why do I see a parse error even though the XML looks fine?

Common causes are unescaped characters (like &), mismatched closing tags, or multiple top-level roots.
