FAQ
Is this the same as clang-format?
No. This is a lightweight, client-side formatter focused on indentation and whitespace; it won’t apply full clang-format styling rules.
Does my code get uploaded to a server?
No. Formatting runs locally in your browser; the tool does not send network requests.
How does it decide indentation?
It indents based on brace nesting, ignores braces inside strings/comments, and keeps preprocessor lines (#...) at column 0.
Will it break macros or templates?
It avoids aggressive rewrites and mainly changes leading indentation and trailing whitespace, but you should still review output for complex macro-heavy code.
What does Compact do?
Compact removes extra blank lines (max blank lines = 0) while keeping indentation and code content intact.
Why do I see a warning about unbalanced braces?
It means the formatter detected a likely mismatch in { } outside of strings/comments; the output is still produced, but you should verify the code.
Can I convert tabs to spaces (or vice versa)?
Yes. Toggle “Use tabs” to control indentation characters; the tool re-indents lines accordingly.
