Convert TAR.GZ into TAR.XZ
Choose the compressed TAR file, run the conversion, then download the repacked archive. Regular-file names and bytes are retained; the output uses a different archive container or compression method.
When this format pair is useful
Use TAR.XZ when your recipient or build workflow requires that archive format. Repacking changes compression, not the files inside.
Supported files and limits
Server processing. Temporary results expire after 15 minutes. Maximum 50 MB upload, 1,000 entries, 20 MB per expanded file and 60 MB total expanded data. Encrypted, multipart and unsupported compression variants are rejected. Unsafe/duplicate paths, links and special files are rejected. Empty directories and original permissions are not preserved.
RAR output is not offered. Encrypted archives require decryption before uploading. A renamed extension is not a conversion.
