FAQ
Does this tool upload my image to a server?
No. The tool runs locally in your browser and the JavaScript does not make network requests.
Why does OCR say “not supported” in my browser?
This tool uses the built-in TextDetector API, which is mainly supported on Chromium-based browsers. Try Chrome or Edge.
How can I get better OCR results?
Increase Scale for small text, raise Contrast, and enable Threshold for scanned pages; also use a sharp, well-lit image.
What image formats work?
Most browsers accept PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WebP via the file picker. If it opens and previews, OCR can try to read it.
Can it read handwriting?
It depends on browser OCR quality and the handwriting style, but printed text usually works much better than cursive handwriting.
Why is the extracted text missing line breaks or spacing?
OCR often merges or splits lines unpredictably. Toggle “Normalize spaces & trim lines” to clean output, then edit as needed.
Can I extract text from a screenshot I copied?
Yes—click Paste if your browser supports clipboard image paste, or save the screenshot and upload it.
