Choose the right tool
PNG suits lossless raster output and graphics with sharp edges. Converting a JPEG to PNG prevents further JPEG compression during saving, but cannot restore detail already lost in the source. PDF to PNG renders each selected page as pixels.
- Choose the source format first: a PDF page requires rendering; a JPG or WebP requires image decoding.
- Use PNG to JPG when smaller photographic files matter and transparency is not required.
- Use PNG to GIF when you need frame timing and animation rather than a single still image.
